Founded on Standards

Raising the Standard in Claims.

The Society for Claims Excellence is a professional society upholding rigorous claims-handling standards across the property & casualty industry — for the carriers, adjusters, third-party administrators, and vendors entrusted with policyholder outcomes.

The Framework
01

Standards of Practice

A published body of claims-handling expectations covering acknowledgment, investigation, documentation, valuation, and resolution.

02

Code of Professional Conduct

Binding ethical obligations on good faith, transparency, conflicts of interest, and treatment of policyholders.

03

Credentialing & Review

Category-specific admission review, verification of licensure and standing, and periodic re-attestation of members.

The SCE Standard

Three phases of adherence.

01

Commit

Members formally adopt the Standard of Practice and Code of Professional Conduct as the baseline for their claims handling.

02

Demonstrate

Adherence is verified through admission review — licensure, standing, and file-handling practices assessed against the Standard.

03

Uphold

Membership carries ongoing accountability: periodic re-attestation, renewal, and review of conduct complaints.

The full standard is published free and public. No membership, license, or fee is required to read, cite, or adopt it.

About the Society

Elevating professionalism and accountability in claims handling.

The Society for Claims Excellence exists to make good claims practice legible, teachable, and enforceable. We publish a common standard for how property & casualty claims should be acknowledged, investigated, documented, valued, and resolved — and we hold our members to it. Our work is grounded in a simple conviction: policyholders are entitled to a claims process that is prompt, transparent, and handled in good faith, and the professionals who deliver it deserve a credential that means something.
